[About the Webtoon]
Cheese in the Trap by Soonkki
Having returned to college after a year long break, Hong Sul, a hardworking, over-achiever, inavertly got on the wrong side of a suspiciously perfect senior named Yoo Jung. From then on her life took a turn for the worst and Sul was almost certain it was all Yoo Jung's doing. So why is he suddenly acting so friendly a year later?
Its the downside of being a non Korean fan who doesn't know how to read Hangul. Its the same when watching Korean drama and variety shows. We need to wait for the sincere subbers and translators to do their jobs. Anyway, here are the list of sites where you can actually read Cheese in the Trap with English trans.
Line Webtoon is the official site where you could read Cheese in the Trap with not only English but Vietnamese, Spanish, French and many more languages. Translated episode is usually released every Sunday of the week. However, the English translation as of today is only in Seasson 2, Episode 59. Take note that the webtoon is in its Season 3 already.
The translation here is quiet neat and the good part is the you can actually download the Line Webtoon App that is available in Android and IOS Devices. After downloading the application, there is a feature where you can download and store the webtoon in your device for 30 days which you can read offline. So, if you're kind of a busy person and an occasional comic reader this app is the best for you. But, if you're the type to read something and finish it off in a few days span this may not be enough for you.
After reading Cheese in the Trap in the Line App I got so curious about the next pages so I researched and found out the team of Odd Squad. Odd Squad is pretty much doing their job legally because when reading the webtoon you first should go to the naver page of Cheese. That means you are giving hits to Soonkki, the artist behind Cheese.
Odd Squad is using the so called "English Translation Overlay" technique which is kind of amusing. Its like first you go directly to Cheese in the Trap's naver site which is totally in Korean and then you click on the Odd Squad's overlay technique and magic comes out, the bubble conversations are suddenly turning into English language.
The downside is that you should read the webtoon using your laptop because first you have to bookmark Odd Squad's naver translator plug-in in your search engine. Some peope found it troublesome but I suggest its best to use Google Chrome and then drag and drop Odd Squad's naver translator image in your bookmark bar and your good to go. Just click the bookmarked plug-in in every refresh and next pages of the webtoon. As of now, Odd Squad had translated Season 3, Episode 51 of the webtoon.
UPDATE: The "English Translation Overlay" doesn't work now. You should drag and drop the green star icon called Overtooning in your browsers bookmark. The image can be found in the left side of Odd Squad's website. Click the link of the CITT pages and click the Overtooning image to read the english trans.
BONUS!!!
After reading the English translation of Cheese in the Trap in Line Webtoon App and Odd Squad, you might want to check these other sites that translated the character's conversations and summarized the next Episodes for the fans who got addicted and cannot wait to read the next plot in English.

ReplyDeleteHi Hasanah, you should go to Odd Squad's page first, better use a laptop and Google Chrome if you want to read Cheese in the Trap with their Eng trans. You can see in Odd Squad's page the star icon that has a name OSS Naver Translator. Drag the star icon on your Chrome's bookmark bar. Click on the link's that Odd Squad has in their site for Cheese and then click the bookmarked naver translator and you will gradually see that the bubbles will change into english language.
Deletewhy there's no other season at naver?
ReplyDeleteNaver changed CITT from free to pay-per-view.

ReplyDeleteWhy I can't find any season 2 at naver, there is only season 1 and season 4?
ReplyDeleteNaver changed CITT from free to pay-per-view. You need to make an account and pay, but you can only pay with a korean credit card so Oddsquad has to find a alternate. It'll take a while, but soon we can finish it! :)
DeleteCan i use ipad ??
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry for not being able to reply for all your queries about CITT these past few days.. Like what @Brandie says CITT Seasons 2 and 3 cannot be accessed in Naver because it had gone pay for view. You could still read CITT using Line's official webtoon site, I've checked it and they translated Season 2 Ep 78 as of Dec 6. Happy reading to u all! :)
ReplyDeleteHello, thank you fr explaining the webtoon. There is also a drama out for it, so i was wondering if the drama would be the same as the webtoon? and if the webtoon isnt he finished yet how is the drama continue?
ReplyDeleteHi Mia! Thanks for taking time on reading this post of mine.. Yes! there is a drama adaptation of Cheese and episodes are during Mon-Tue, Regarding your question could you take another time reading this new post of mine? http://themiswriting.blogspot.com/2016/01/drama-yes-yall-should-watch-tvn-s.html thanks ^^
DeleteIs there any news on when oddsquad translation will figure out an alternative? I really want to find out what happens next!
ReplyDeleteHi! Is that anyway to read it on iPad? I've tried via desktop per oddsquad advice I was able to read but not on iPad :(
ReplyDeleteHi ann! If you want to read it in your Ipad there's a line app available on itunes, the last time I check its on Season 2 already but I am not sure where it is nowadays. It updates every week I think :) happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteHello, I've been using line webtoon but I can't find the episodes after season 2 episode 39. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteNo you're not, line app is just new so it will take a while for them to catch up with the webtoon. Check oddsquad's website if you want to continue reading CITT :)
DeleteI've been trying but, oddsquad's links just redirect me to naver comic's page and since naver only has s1 and s3 it's useless... do you know any other method? I'm really hopeless right now ㅠㅠ
DeleteYou should bookmark the overtooning image that you can found in their site. The image is with green star in it. After clicking the link that corresponds to the pages of CITT where you want to start read, you have to also click the overtooning image...
DeleteHi. Has Naver removed Season 2? I keep clicking on the Season 2 Ep 42 image on OddSquad's site, but Naver redirects me to either their main page of some random chapter from the earlier season. I can't seem to find Season 2 either. Could you help out this poor soul? :(
ReplyDeleteAh wait. I forgot to click on the Overtooning bookmark. Lol. Sorry xD
DeleteReallllllllllyyyyyyy Thank You I was shocked when I heared that the webtoon is on it's fourth season and I only read until the 40th episode of the second season. Thank yoooooo
ReplyDeleteI wish more episode .
ReplyDeleteThe ending can be more nicer
I found Cheese in the Trap completely finished on the Indonesian version of Webtoons. How it is finished on that site but not in the original Korean language site Naver?
ReplyDeleteFigure below shows the Animation (Timeline) panel. As you drag the bars for each of the layers in the animation, the image updates to show the effect of your changes. 펀비
